Utillibe Boot

December 2021

Handmade boots inspired by the Clark Wallabee and Desert boot, referencing growing up in Philadelphia with a more utilitarian heritage look.

In designing and handmaking this boot, my aim was to make a high quality all leather short boot for everyday wear, to withstand time both in materiality and aesthetic design.

Mood Board

Captured by heritage menswear, I pulled inspiration from both heritage styles and utility workwear with clean lines, classic cuts, and heavy reinforced material

Then combined and simplified these vintage looks to make a design that was both modern and timeless

Sketching

Hand-making a pattern from the last, to then make samples out of paper and leather in order to iterate the design before sewing the final pair. Once finalizing the design, using a single piece of scrap hide, I focused on craftsmanship in executing the final processes of cobbling, problem-solving along the way.
